Did you know that psychological/sociological studies have shown that it is very, very, VERY hard not to let power corrupt you and make you much more likely to be insensitive to the plight of others who you may have power over? Did you know that psychological/sociological studies have shown that gradually over the past several thousand years, humans have been studying how to be more persuasive -- able to make other individuals believe something whether or not it is actually true -- able to make someone believe something whether it is true or not and actually "feel" very certain and very comfortable with that certainty? Did you know that the vast knowledge base that has been accumulated -- all the understanding and intricacies of the skill, science and art of persuasion -- has been growing ever larger over several thousands of years and, like all other sciences and developments, has been growing at an ever increasing speed? Did you know that your brain can misperceive, misunderstand, distort and full out lie to you in a way that you would not be able to feel happening? Did you know that some people mistakenly believe that only people with serious disorders or who are on serious medications could distort reality and not know it? Did you know that immediately following World War 2, international laws were passed saying that soldiers have a responsibility not to engage in acts they believe are immoral or illegal and that then we -- the international community with America at its head -- tried and then hung or imprissoned German soldiers and officials for war crimes they had committed under these laws -- acts they had committed before the laws were passed? And that in the several years after that, psychological/sociological studies showed that normal, everyday people typically were absolutely unable to refuse to follows orders to give lethal shocks of electricity to strangers they thought were also normal, everyday people -- even when the orders came from a stranger with no more authority than a white lab coat and a clipboard in hand?	Did you know that anyone can want to believe something so badly that their brain helps them -- without their ever finding out -- by distorting all sorts of information so that the person can have his or her wish? Did you know that a person can want to believe he or she is a devout and pious Christian without realizing that he or she is actually not? Did you know that all sorts of people have done all sorts of awful things, thinking they were being quite Christian? Did you know that a person can lie about being a Christian as part of an attempt to get actual Christians to behave in an unChristian manner without them ever realizing? Did you know that many people who say they are fundamental Christians are actually basing their beleifs and values on Old Testament teachings, not New? Did you know that fundamental Christians, Jews and Muslims all hold the Old Testament in reverence but it is the New Testament -- specifically the teachings of Jesus that make a Christian different from a Hebrew or Muslim? Did you know that Jesus is said to have advised people not to judge others and not to shun others and to worry about one's own imperfections rather than worrying about the imperfections of others -- and to forgive and give, and turn the other cheek when struck -- and never said you should strike the other guy first OR later, but instead said you should treat the other guy like you hoped he would treat you -- and that people should rely on God to take care of handing out vengance -- and that he recognized that it was hard to do all that but it would be worthwhile in the long run? Do you know which would be safer and more likely to reliably get where he or she hopes to -- the person who drives a car who is aware of potential flaws in the car's design and car designs in general, or the person that feels with certainty that there are no flaws in their car's design or in car designs in general -- even if a doctor tells him or her that there is -- because he or she cannot "feel" any?
